Outdoor Farm & Livestock Team Member
Pond Hill Farm

About this job
Pond Hill Farm is hiring for the Outdoor Farm & Livestock Team Member position in Harbor Springs, MI. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
• Feed, water, observe, move, and care for animals according to the farm's routines and welfare standards.
• Clean and bed housing, maintain fences and water systems, and keep feed, tools, and care areas orderly.
• Report changes in appetite, behavior, movement, injury, health, births, or facility condition immediately.
• Complete daily animal-husbandry work such as feeding, watering, bedding, observation, secure-gate checks, and care-area cleanup according to the farm's species-specific routines.
• Assist with garden and vineyard work, including seasonal planting, cultivation, harvest, crop cleanup, irrigation or trellis tasks, and careful movement of farm materials and tools.
• Support other outdoor farm priorities as assigned, keep shared work areas and equipment organized, and immediately report animal-health, fence, water, crop, weather, or safety concerns.
How the work fits together
Animal checks set the order of the day. Feed, water, health, weather exposure, and secure housing are confirmed before lower-priority projects. The employee records or reports observations, completes assigned husbandry and facility work, and rechecks gates, animals, equipment, and supplies before the shift ends. At Pond Hill Farm, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Complete daily animal-husbandry work such as feeding, watering, bedding, observation, secure-gate checks, and care-area cleanup according to the farm's species-specific routines. Assist with garden and vineyard work, including seasonal planting, cultivation, harvest, crop cleanup, irrigation or trellis tasks, and careful movement of farm materials and tools. Support other outdoor farm priorities as assigned, keep shared work areas and equipment organized, and immediately report animal-health, fence, water, crop, weather, or safety concerns.
What the employer is looking for
• A serious interest in agriculture, animal husbandry, vineyard work, and practical outdoor learning, with dependable attendance and willingness to move between different farm systems as seasonal priorities change.
• Ability to complete active work outdoors, follow animal and equipment safety instructions, communicate useful observations, work independently after training, and cooperate with a small farm and hospitality team.
• Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
• Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
