Pastured Hog & Farm Hand

Many Fold Farm is hiring one full-time farm hand for its family-owned pasture operation in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia. The small crew raises whey-fed hogs alongside sheep, cows, and chickens and produces lamb, eggs, milk, cheese, and pork. This is a broad livestock role with meaningful daily responsibility for hog care, pasture systems, and the land. What you will do • Feed, water, move, count, and observe hogs and the farm's other livestock • Move temporary fence and pasture equipment as animals rotate through the grass-based system • Provide minor veterinary care only as trained and report health or behavior concerns • Collect, clean, grade, and package eggs • Complete construction, repair, fencing, cleaning, and land-maintenance projects • Clean and perform minor service on farm vehicles and equipment and report larger repair needs How the work fits together Animal husbandry represents about 40 percent of the position, and general repairs, construction, and land maintenance another 40 percent. Egg handling and equipment care make up the remainder. Hogs must have dependable feed, water, fencing, shade, and clean living areas, while livestock movements need to support the farm's management-intensive grazing plan. The employee works closely with the crew but must also finish assigned work independently and communicate what changed during the shift. What the farm is looking for A valid driver's license, close attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, and calm livestock handling are required. Applicants must be able to lift more than 50 pounds and complete dirty outdoor work in all weather. Tractor operation, manual-transmission driving, hand and power tools, fencing, construction, and basic vehicle service are preferred but not mandatory. Farm, culinary, or cheese experience is helpful, and candidates must be at least 18. Schedule, conditions, and compensation This is a full-time, on-farm position. The employer does not publish pay or benefits, so candidates should ask about the wage, normal start and end times, weekend animal-care rotation, overtime, time off, and any seasonal changes during the interview. Reliability is especially important because the livestock routine continues every day. This is an in-person agricultural position. Farm priorities can change with animal health, weather, crop condition, equipment availability, and harvest timing, so the successful person must communicate clearly and adjust without losing sight of safety or animal welfare. Daily notes and records should be complete enough that another team member can understand what was observed, what was done, and what still needs attention. Tools, vehicles, gates, feed areas, water systems, and workspaces should be left clean, secure, and ready for the next shift. Applicants should expect physical work that can include standing or walking for long periods, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, wet or dusty conditions, and work outdoors or in warm agricultural buildings. A dependable arrival time matters because livestock and living production systems cannot simply wait for a late shift.
