About this job

Johnson Farms Plants and Pumpkins is hiring for the Playground & Animal Encounters Attendant position in Belton, MO. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property. What you will do • Prepare the assigned farm attraction, guest area, produce display, equipment, or supplies before opening and keep the area orderly through the shift. • Welcome visitors, explain the assigned activity or farm procedure clearly, and follow the employer's rules for safe guest movement and participation. • Communicate crowd, weather, equipment, product, safety, or customer-service concerns to the farm lead promptly. • Prepare the assigned playground or animal-encounter area before guests arrive, checking cleanliness, supplies, boundaries, signs, and visible safety concerns and notifying a lead about anything that is not ready. • Welcome families, explain participation and animal-contact rules clearly, monitor guest behavior attentively, and step in courteously when a visitor needs redirection or help finding another farm activity. • Reset and clean the area throughout the shift, observe the animals and enclosure without attempting care beyond training, and report animal, equipment, weather, crowd, sanitation, or visitor concerns immediately. How the work fits together Agritourism work connects visitors with a working farm during a concentrated seasonal window. The team prepares before opening, checks the assigned area and supplies, welcomes and directs guests, resets the space throughout service, and completes an orderly close. Employees must balance warmth and efficiency with clear boundaries around farm equipment, animals, crops, traffic, food, and weather. At Johnson Farms Plants and Pumpkins, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Prepare the assigned playground or animal-encounter area before guests arrive, checking cleanliness, supplies, boundaries, signs, and visible safety concerns and notifying a lead about anything that is not ready. Welcome families, explain participation and animal-contact rules clearly, monitor guest behavior attentively, and step in courteously when a visitor needs redirection or help finding another farm activity. Reset and clean the area throughout the shift, observe the animals and enclosure without attempting care beyond training, and report animal, equipment, weather, crowd, sanitation, or visitor concerns immediately. What the employer is looking for • At least 16 years old, energetic, easygoing, social, and interested in creating a welcoming experience for farm visitors while following the specific rules of the assigned playground and animal areas. • Commitment to at least eight hours of work per week, dependable September and October attendance with particular weekend availability during the peak season, and ability to remain active and observant through an outdoor shift. • Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures. • Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods. Schedule, conditions, and compensation This is seasonal part-time work for the 2026 farm season, which starts in mid-August and continues into early November. The farm requires at least eight hours per week and needs its greatest staffing coverage on weekends, while allowing qualified employees to discuss tailored morning and afternoon or evening availability. Compensation varies with experience and qualifications, but no numeric starting rate or employee benefits are published. Orientation is to be scheduled, and applicants should identify all known conflicts before hiring. The employer does not publish a numeric wage range on this page, so no compensation has been estimated. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer. This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift. Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated. How to apply Complete the Johnson Farms team-member application, select Playground Attendant/Animal Encounters, and provide all available days and any start- or end-time restrictions. The form also requests education, work history, a personal interest, and preferred interview days; answer each section completely.
