Ranch Hand / Equipment Operator

Caffee Ranch is hiring a full-time Ranch Hand / Equipment Operator near Wessington Springs. Put practical machinery and livestock skills to work in a family cattle operation, with equipment operation and maintenance forming the position's primary focus. What you will do • Operate tractors and maintain farm and ranch equipment. • Feed cattle and help put up hay, including mowing, raking, and baling. • Build fence and carry out general ranch upkeep. • Assist with sorting and moving cattle using a UTV or working on horseback. How the work fits together Dave and Nancy Caffee built their ranch around cattle suited to the rolling prairie outside Wessington Springs. Their breeding program combines Maine-Anjou influence with other cattle genetics, with attention to sound structure, useful growth, and dependable maternal traits. The family raises replacement females from its own cow herd and follows cow families across generations. Cattle are selected for practical performance on the ranch as well as their appearance in the show ring. Spring bull sales and fall offerings connect that breeding work with customers. Nancy contributes to breeding decisions, pasture rotations, and hay development, while the next generation also helps with ranch work and marketing. This is a working family operation where feed production, equipment upkeep, and livestock care all support the same herd. Schedule, conditions, and compensation This is a full-time position. Secondary duties include winter feedlot feeding and summer pasture management.
