Community Harvest Project is hiring for the Seasonal Farm Crew Member position in North Grafton, MA. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property. What you will do • Seed, transplant, cultivate, irrigate, harvest, wash, pack, and store crops according to the farm's plan and food-safety procedures. • Use and care for assigned hand tools, wash-pack equipment, carts, and field equipment within training. • Monitor crops and communicate pest, disease, water, weather, quality, or harvest-timing concerns promptly. • Set up and support volunteer farm projects, explain assigned work, oversee groups in the field, check task completion, and maintain a positive experience for people of different ages and abilities. • Execute daily agricultural and produce-distribution duties across the vegetable farm and orchard, following restricted-task, food-handling, equipment, and safety procedures. • Monitor equipment condition, report repair or replacement needs, and help with pruning, light construction, property upkeep, or other projects assigned by farm operations leadership. How the work fits together Farm priorities follow crop condition, weather, harvest commitments, and customer orders. The crew checks urgent irrigation and harvest needs first, then moves through field production, post-harvest handling, accurate packing, storage, and cleanup. Each employee's work affects both crop life and the quality customers receive. What the employer is looking for • At least one year of agricultural experience is preferred, along with a positive self-starting attitude, excellent interpersonal and group-communication skills, and comfort leading members of the public. • Ability to lift 50 pounds, work outdoors in rain, cold, heat, and other weather, travel between the Grafton farm and Harvard orchard as assigned, and uphold safety while completing physical work. • Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures. • Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods. Schedule, conditions, and compensation This is a 26-week, part-time seasonal position from May through October, normally 22 hours per week. Work generally runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m., with some Saturdays required. Pay is $21 per hour and the position includes five paid sick days. The role works at Brigham Hill Community Farm in North Grafton and Prospect Hill Community Orchard in Harvard. The employer does not list housing, insurance, or other conventional benefits.
