Seasonal Field and Pack Crew Member

Vitruvian Farms is hiring seasonal Field and Pack Crew Members in McFarland. Help grow and prepare organic vegetables and mushrooms for customers in the Madison area. What you will do • Work with vegetable, mushroom, and fruit production. • Assist in greenhouses and with orchard care. • Join indoor packing work and outdoor farm tasks as needed. • Complete physical work efficiently while paying attention to detail. How the work fits together Vitruvian began in 2010 and now operates on a forty-five-acre property purchased by its founders in 2018. About seven acres are cultivated, supported by hoophouses, a heated greenhouse, and indoor mushroom-growing facilities. Organic certification and care for soil and water guide the growing methods. Much of the harvest stays close to home, reaching customers within a short distance of the farm. Restaurants and grocery stores remain important buyers, while an expanded CSA and online store give households another way to buy directly. The on-site farm store also brings together food from other local growers and makers. Growing, harvesting, washing, and delivery are closely connected here. The crew helps keep that short path from farm to customer moving while protecting the freshness of the food. What the employer is looking for • Learn quickly, ask questions, and request help when needed. • Be prepared for demanding work and changing weather. • Prior farm experience is not required; reliable availability through fall is important. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Base pay is $15.50 hourly. Completing the agreed season earns an additional $0.50 per hour worked; tips are separate and variable. Full-time hours are 32–40 weekly and part-time hours generally 24–32. Produce shares are included at different frequencies. Work extends into October or early November; summer-only availability is not suitable.
