About this job
Country Mill is hiring for the Seasonal Orchard & Farm Team Member position in Charlotte, MI. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
• Prepare the assigned farm attraction, guest area, produce display, equipment, or supplies before opening and keep the area orderly through the shift.
• Welcome visitors, explain the assigned activity or farm procedure clearly, and follow the employer's rules for safe guest movement and participation.
• Communicate crowd, weather, equipment, product, safety, or customer-service concerns to the farm lead promptly.
• Prepare assigned orchard, U-pick, farm-market, or guest areas before opening by stocking farm products and supplies, checking displays and signs, and making sure the work area is clean and ready.
• Help visitors navigate apple, peach, blueberry, sunflower, or pumpkin activities, answer routine product and farm questions within training, and keep customer flow safe around working farm areas.
• Restock, organize, clean, and close the assigned area, handle harvested products carefully, and alert a lead to shortages, damaged fruit, weather changes, spills, equipment issues, or guest-safety concerns.
How the work fits together
Agritourism work connects visitors with a working farm during a concentrated seasonal window. The team prepares before opening, checks the assigned area and supplies, welcomes and directs guests, resets the space throughout service, and completes an orderly close. Employees must balance warmth and efficiency with clear boundaries around farm equipment, animals, crops, traffic, food, and weather. At Country Mill, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Prepare assigned orchard, U-pick, farm-market, or guest areas before opening by stocking farm products and supplies, checking displays and signs, and making sure the work area is clean and ready. Help visitors navigate apple, peach, blueberry, sunflower, or pumpkin activities, answer routine product and farm questions within training, and keep customer flow safe around working farm areas. Restock, organize, clean, and close the assigned area, handle harvested products carefully, and alert a lead to shortages, damaged fruit, weather changes, spills, equipment issues, or guest-safety concerns.
What the employer is looking for
• Applicants may enter through the farm's programs for ages 14–15, 16–17, or adults 18 and older; placement and duties depend on age, availability, experience, and the positions still open when the application is reviewed.
• Dependable availability during the concentrated August-through-October season, willingness to work in a fast-paced family-farm setting, and ability to complete the standing, walking, lifting, stocking, cleanup, or customer work assigned to the role.
• Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
• Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
This is flexible seasonal employment during Country Mill's primary August, September, and October hiring and operating period. Specific roles, workdays, weekly hours, daily shift times, age-based assignments, pay, and benefits are presented through the farm's current application and interview process rather than listed on the public hiring page. Direct deposit and flexible scheduling are offered, and applicants are subject to a background check where applicable. The employer does not publish a numeric wage range on this page, so no compensation has been estimated. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated.
