About this job

Many Fold Farm is hiring part-time seasonal milker assistants at its family-owned farm in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia. A small team raises sheep and cows on pasture and turns their milk into farmstead cheese. The position is designed for a careful beginner or livestock worker who wants practical production-dairy experience; training is provided. What you will do โ€ข Set up, operate as trained, break down, wash, and sanitize milking equipment and the parlor โ€ข Bring sheep and cows calmly to and from the milking area and follow the farm's movement routines โ€ข Observe udders, gait, appetite, behavior, and milk condition and report anything unusual promptly โ€ข Feed, water, and complete other basic husbandry tasks for the farm's animals โ€ข Collect, wash, grade, and pack eggs when assigned โ€ข Complete cleaning, pasture, and basic land-maintenance chores needed by the small farm crew How the work fits together Approximately one quarter of the role is parlor and equipment cleaning, about 30 percent is milking sheep and cows, and roughly 20 percent is general animal husbandry. Egg work and basic farm chores make up the balance. Sanitation is part of milk quality, not an afterthought: assistants must follow the same sequence every milking, keep clean and dirty zones separate, and speak up when an animal or piece of equipment does not look right. What the farm is looking for Applicants must be at least 18, able to lift more than 50 pounds, and able to walk at least 1.25 miles over uneven terrain. A calm demeanor, patience, acute attention to detail, reliable attendance, and strict compliance with safety rules are required. Livestock, culinary, cheese, or farm experience is preferred but not required. Candidates need a valid driver's license and must be willing to perform wet, dirty work outdoors in changing weather. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The employer describes two part-time openings of approximately 25โ€“40 hours per week during the Februaryโ€“October milking season. Advancement and full-time work may be available. Pay is not published, so applicants should confirm the hourly rate, expected weekly hours, weekend rotation, and the exact remaining 2026 season dates directly with the farm. This is an in-person agricultural position. Farm priorities can change with animal health, weather, crop condition, equipment availability, and harvest timing, so the successful person must communicate clearly and adjust without losing sight of safety or animal welfare. Daily notes and records should be complete enough that another team member can understand what was observed, what was done, and what still needs attention. Tools, vehicles, gates, feed areas, water systems, and workspaces should be left clean, secure, and ready for the next shift. Applicants should expect physical work that can include standing or walking for long periods, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, wet or dusty conditions, and work outdoors or in warm agricultural buildings. A dependable arrival time matters because livestock and living production systems cannot simply wait for a late shift. Candidates should ask the employer about the exact weekly schedule, overtime treatment, training period, and any benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. How to apply Apply through Many Fold Farm's live SmartRecruiters posting, or email a resume to jobs@manyfoldfarm.com with โ€œMilker Assistantโ€ in the subject line. Include livestock or sanitation experience, schedule availability, and confirmation that you can meet the driving and lifting requirements. The farm requests email rather than phone inquiries.
