About this job

Orange Cat Community Farm is hiring an Organic Vegetable Crew Member near Lyndon Station. Join a small crew growing certified organic produce for Sauk County households through the remaining 2026 season. What you will do • Seed and transplant crops in greenhouses, hoophouses, and fields. • Weed, irrigate, harvest, and handle vegetables after harvest. • Help with CSA orders, deliveries, and farmers-market work. • Work efficiently with a small team as seasonal priorities change. How the work fits together Farmer Laura grew up in the area and established Orange Cat in 2010. Her connection to growing plants now takes the form of a farm that helps neighbors eat with the seasons. The CSA offers pickup points throughout nearby communities, including Reedsburg, Baraboo, Wisconsin Dells, and Prairie du Sac. An online store also lets people order vegetables without becoming CSA members. A farm visit can include picking flowers or joining a seasonal gathering. Garlic harvests, food workshops, and fall activities bring members closer to the land supplying their kitchens. Throughout these different ways of participating, fresh vegetables remain the focus. The crew's growing and harvest work makes those relationships possible, connecting careful crop production with the quality and variety customers receive during the season. What the employer is looking for • Have a valid driver's license and the stamina for physical outdoor work. • Bring a positive team attitude, adaptability, and a genuine interest in growing food. • Farm experience is welcome but not essential; be ready to learn and work in varied weather. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Starting pay is $15–$18 hourly. Work continues through November 6. Typical hours are Monday–Thursday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.–noon, with a lunch break. The full-time package includes a CSA share, three paid days off, and a $175 gear stipend. Farmhouse rooms may be available to rent; confirm availability and remaining-season benefit arrangements. How to apply Email a resume and cover letter to orangecatcommunityfarm@gmail.com. Explain your interest in the farm and the dates you can work. Discuss your start date, transportation, and housing needs during the hiring process.
