Vegetable and Crops Team Member

Caney Fork Farms is hiring a Vegetable and Crops Team Member in Carthage. Work across planting, crop care, harvest, and produce handling on a diversified regenerative organic farm, reporting to the vegetable production lead. What you will do • Prepare beds, seed and transplant crops, and maintain plantings. • Help with irrigation, weed control, soil amendments, and crop monitoring. • Harvest, wash, sort, and pack produce to quality and food-safety standards. • Maintain tools and clean work areas; communicate priorities and record task time. How the work fits together The farm sits beside the Caney Fork River in the hills of Middle Tennessee. Its food production includes vegetables, chestnuts, pasture-raised pork, and grass-fed beef and lamb. Customers buy through farm shares and other direct regional sales. The land is managed as an interconnected system, with market gardens, larger crop fields, grasslands, and tree plantings contributing different functions. Quick successions of specialty vegetables complement field-scale production, while grazing and agroforestry are part of the wider approach to land stewardship. Research and outreach help the farm examine its methods and share what it learns. The vegetable team works within that whole-farm setting, turning crop plans into food while paying attention to soil, water, and the surrounding ecosystem. What the employer is looking for • Be dependable, observant, willing to learn, and able to work independently and with others. • Lift 50 pounds and manage repetitive bending, standing, and outdoor work. • Farm experience and tractor skills are helpful but not required.
