Part-Time Vegetable Field Crew

Foxtail Farm is hiring part-time Vegetable Field Crew members in Osceola. Join a small, hands-on growing team supplying seasonal produce to CSA members and farmers markets in the St. Croix Valley and Twin Cities area. What you will do • Weed, cultivate, seed, and transplant by hand. • Harvest vegetables and move crops from the field. • Wash and package produce for CSA shares and markets. • Maintain a careful pace and communicate when plans or conditions change. How the work fits together Emmalyn Kayser and Cody Fitzpatrick took over Foxtail's operation in 2019, continuing a farm established by Chris and Paul Burkhouse. Their complementary backgrounds combine vegetable growing with practical maintenance and building skills. Emmalyn's experience farming in Alaska helped shape the use of season extension and close crop planning. At Foxtail, the operators favor methods that reduce soil disturbance and dependence on heavy machinery. A walk-behind tractor assists some tasks, but much of the work remains at a human scale. Cover crops, compost, beneficial insects, and habitat plantings support the growing system. The aim is to work with the surrounding ecosystem while producing useful food for the community. Crew members take part in this close relationship between daily observation, physical work, and care for the soil. What the employer is looking for • No previous farm experience is required. • Be self-motivated, attentive, and comfortable with repetitive physical work. • Work efficiently, stay adaptable, and give and receive feedback respectfully. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Base pay is $12 hourly, negotiable with relevant experience. Expect roughly 15–20 hours over two or three weekdays; weekends are not required. Workdays fall within 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and the season generally ends November 1, with dates negotiable. Farm vegetables, pantry staples, and workweek community lunches are included.
