Vegetable Production Team Member

Glade Road Growing is hiring a year-round Vegetable Production Team Member in Blacksburg. Grow, harvest, and prepare vegetables as part of a small farm team supplying nearby households. What you will do • Seed, transplant, cultivate, trellis, and harvest crops. • Wash and pack produce and assist with farm-stand and CSA work. • Use farm tools and equipment after instruction. • Help with winter greens, firewood, maintenance, and infrastructure projects. How the work fits together Jason Pall and Sally Walker founded Glade Road Growing in 2010 to build a livelihood around growing food, spending time outside, and sharing meals. The family operation raises Certified Naturally Grown vegetables as well as pasture-based pork, poultry, and eggs. Customers buy from an on-farm stand or participate in seasonal farm shares. That combination connects the growing team with people who use the harvest in their everyday cooking. The farm is located inside Blacksburg, bringing a working agricultural operation close to its customers. Its priorities include caring for the soil, treating animals thoughtfully, and respecting the people doing the work. Vegetable production is part of this broader mixed-farm setting, with seasonal food, family life, and community relationships all contributing to the character of the workplace. What the employer is looking for • Lift 40 pounds repeatedly and sustain a safe, efficient pace outdoors. • Be reliable, receptive to coaching, and comfortable around children and farm dogs. • Have transportation; outdoor production experience is preferred, not required. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Work is 32–40 hours weekly at $19 hourly. Homemade weekday lunches, produce, eggs, and meat discounts are provided.
