Brothers Worm Farm

About this job
Brothers Worm Farm is hiring for the Worm Farm & Ranch Support Team Member position in Oxford, MS. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
โข Feed, water, observe, move, and care for animals according to the farm's routines and welfare standards.
โข Clean and bed housing, maintain fences and water systems, and keep feed, tools, and care areas orderly.
โข Report changes in appetite, behavior, movement, injury, health, births, or facility condition immediately.
โข Prepare and add appropriate bedding, feedstock, and water to worm beds, follow the farm's care routine, and observe moisture, temperature, worm activity, and other conditions that affect the colony.
โข Support composting and worm-casting production by moving and staging materials, tending active beds, helping process finished material, and keeping care and production areas organized.
โข Complete hands-on farm and ranch support tasks as assigned, clean tools and work areas, and share useful observations or questions with the owner rather than allowing a worm-health, material, or process issue to continue.
How the work fits together
Animal checks set the order of the day. Feed, water, health, weather exposure, and secure housing are confirmed before lower-priority projects. The employee records or reports observations, completes assigned husbandry and facility work, and rechecks gates, animals, equipment, and supplies before the shift ends. At Brothers Worm Farm, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Prepare and add appropriate bedding, feedstock, and water to worm beds, follow the farm's care routine, and observe moisture, temperature, worm activity, and other conditions that affect the colony. Support composting and worm-casting production by moving and staging materials, tending active beds, helping process finished material, and keeping care and production areas organized. Complete hands-on farm and ranch support tasks as assigned, clean tools and work areas, and share useful observations or questions with the owner rather than allowing a worm-health, material, or process issue to continue.
What the employer is looking for
โข A curious, hard-working person interested in earthworms, biology, soil health, composting, science, or environmental work; prior vermiculture experience is not stated as a requirement.
โข Comfort getting dirty, staying on your feet, performing routine light lifting and repeated hands-on tasks, learning the reason for each care step, and working responsibly with limited supervision after training.
โข Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
โข Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
Starting compensation is $14 per hour. The position offers flexible part-time scheduling Monday through Friday and no weekend shifts, with weekly hours arranged around the selected employee's existing work or school commitments. Applicants should state the number of hours they want and their complete availability so the farm can discuss a workable recurring schedule. The posting does not list insurance, paid leave, or a guaranteed minimum number of hours. The employer publishes starting compensation of $14 per hour; no upper limit is stated. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
This is an in-person agricultural and animal-care position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated.
How to apply
Email Chip at chip@brotherswormfarm.com with a resume or clear summary of work experience, the number of weekly hours you want, and your Monday-through-Friday availability. Explain why vermiculture, composting, soil health, or practical farm work interests you.
