Dull's Tree Farm

About this job
Dull's Tree Farm is hiring for the Agri-tainer position in Thorntown, IN. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
• Prepare the assigned farm attraction, guest area, produce display, equipment, or supplies before opening and keep the area orderly through the shift.
• Welcome visitors, explain the assigned activity or farm procedure clearly, and follow the employer's rules for safe guest movement and participation.
• Communicate crowd, weather, equipment, product, safety, or customer-service concerns to the farm lead promptly.
• Greet and guide farm visitors, operate or monitor assigned attractions, and serve food or other farm products according to the day's placement.
• Assist with pumpkin picking, weekday food preparation, or Christmas-season Wreath Barn work when scheduled and trained for those assignments.
• Reset the assigned guest area, attraction, harvest materials, or supplies throughout the day and contribute to complete opening and closing work.
How the work fits together
Agritourism work connects visitors with a working farm during a concentrated seasonal window. The team prepares before opening, checks the assigned area and supplies, welcomes and directs guests, resets the space throughout service, and completes an orderly close. Employees must balance warmth and efficiency with clear boundaries around farm equipment, animals, crops, traffic, food, and weather. At Dull's Tree Farm, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Greet and guide farm visitors, operate or monitor assigned attractions, and serve food or other farm products according to the day's placement. Assist with pumpkin picking, weekday food preparation, or Christmas-season Wreath Barn work when scheduled and trained for those assignments. Reset the assigned guest area, attraction, harvest materials, or supplies throughout the day and contribute to complete opening and closing work.
What the employer is looking for
• Ability to work outdoors regardless of weather, commit to the agreed schedule, work well with others, and adapt as priorities change.
• A service-minded, respectful, honest, dependable approach and readiness for direct interaction with families and other farm visitors.
• Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
• Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
The role is part-time and seasonal. Pumpkin Harvest runs from September through the end of October, followed by the Christmas Tree season from late November into December; the employer emphasizes Thursday–Friday and weekend needs and commitment to both seasons where possible, but publishes no wage. The employer does not publish a numeric wage range on this page, so no compensation has been estimated. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated.
