Grandpa's Farm

About this job
Grandpa's Farm is hiring for the 2026 Fall Farm Maize Team Member position in Billings, MT. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
• Prepare the assigned farm attraction, guest area, produce display, equipment, or supplies before opening and keep the area orderly through the shift.
• Welcome visitors, explain the assigned activity or farm procedure clearly, and follow the employer's rules for safe guest movement and participation.
• Communicate crowd, weather, equipment, product, safety, or customer-service concerns to the farm lead promptly.
• Prepare, staff, reset, and close an assigned maize, attraction, admissions, concession, or guest area, checking supplies, signs, boundaries, cleanliness, and visible safety conditions throughout the shift.
• Welcome visitors, explain farm and attraction rules, answer basic questions, and call a lead when a guest, crowd, weather, animal, equipment, or haunted-attraction concern goes beyond completed training.
• Help with cleanup, restocking, traffic and guest flow, and neighboring stations as attendance changes, remaining attentive during evening and haunted operating hours rather than leaving a post uncovered.
How the work fits together
Agritourism work connects visitors with a working farm during a concentrated seasonal window. The team prepares before opening, checks the assigned area and supplies, welcomes and directs guests, resets the space throughout service, and completes an orderly close. Employees must balance warmth and efficiency with clear boundaries around farm equipment, animals, crops, traffic, food, and weather. At Grandpa's Farm, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Prepare, staff, reset, and close an assigned maize, attraction, admissions, concession, or guest area, checking supplies, signs, boundaries, cleanliness, and visible safety conditions throughout the shift. Welcome visitors, explain farm and attraction rules, answer basic questions, and call a lead when a guest, crowd, weather, animal, equipment, or haunted-attraction concern goes beyond completed training. Help with cleanup, restocking, traffic and guest flow, and neighboring stations as attendance changes, remaining attentive during evening and haunted operating hours rather than leaving a post uncovered.
What the employer is looking for
• Friendly and reliable conduct around families and coworkers, ability to remain active and attentive outdoors in fall weather, and willingness to learn and consistently enforce the rules for the assigned farm area.
• Transportation to 2001 58th Street West and availability that matches the farm's September and October operating calendar, including the evening or weekend shifts stated in the application.
• Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
• Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
The 2026 season runs September 11 through October 31. Public hours in September include Wednesday evenings, Friday evenings, and Saturdays; October includes Wednesday evenings and long Friday and Saturday days, with haunted operation after 6:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Some weekday group visits are scheduled by appointment, and employee shifts may start before opening or continue after closing. The farm does not publish the wage, guaranteed hours, shift length, or employee benefits, so applicants should confirm those details, training dates, age requirements, and weather procedures when interviewed. The employer does not publish a numeric wage range on this page, so no compensation has been estimated. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated.
