About this job

Crossroad Farm is hiring full- and part-time Fall Field Crew Members in Post Mills. Help grow and prepare a diverse vegetable harvest for the farm's own stands and Upper Valley wholesale customers. What you will do • Transplant crops, weed, and hoe growing beds. • Harvest, prepare, and pack more than forty kinds of vegetables. • Pay attention to crop quality throughout field and packing work. • Work with the crew to keep seasonal production moving. How the work fits together Crossroad began when Tim and Janet Taylor planted a small portion of their Post Mills property in the late 1970s. A roadside card table and a few restaurant customers became the starting point for a lasting vegetable business. Salad crops, herbs, and cool-weather vegetables suited the site, and tomatoes later became another important crop. Phil Mason joined as a strawberry picker in 1999 and continued working each season. He eventually became a partner and then the farm's sole owner. Today, Crossroad operates farm stands in Post Mills and Norwich and supplies retailers and restaurants across the Upper Valley. Its land is conserved with the Vermont Land Trust. The field crew helps sustain that locally rooted operation, connecting careful growing and harvesting with dependable fresh-food supplies. What the employer is looking for • Be able to work four days weekly, including Saturday or Sunday. • Lift 30 pounds and handle physically demanding outdoor work. • Be punctual, positive, and ready to learn; farming experience is helpful but not required. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The fall employment period runs August into November 2026. Starts are often at 7 a.m. and sometimes 6 a.m. Pay is hourly and depends on experience and commitment. Farm fruits and vegetables are also provided. How to apply Email a letter of interest to Phil Mason at phil@crossroadfarm.com. Explain your availability, relevant experience, and ability to meet the early-morning and weekend schedule. Discuss full- or part-time arrangements and your available start date with Phil.
