Vegetable Production Crew — Fall Season

Root 5 Farm is hiring a full-time Vegetable Production Crew Member for the fall season in Fairlee. Work with the owners and experienced growers to produce organic vegetables for the Upper Valley. What you will do • Plant, cultivate, mulch, prune, and trellis crops. • Harvest vegetables and help wash and pack orders. • Support production for CSA shares and local wholesale customers. • Participate in team projects and practical problem-solving. How the work fits together Danielle Allen and Ben Dana have grown organic vegetables since the early 2000s. Their experience developed on farms around Burlington before they began searching for land where they could build a long-term home and business. They moved to Fairlee in 2013 and later renamed the operation Root 5 Farm. Today, field and greenhouse production connect with a substantial CSA program, wholesale relationships, and farm-made fermented foods. The owners work with a small team that combines growing, harvest, packing, and food preparation skills. Their family's life remains closely connected to the fields and farm buildings. The operation emphasizes healthy soil, clean water, and reliable food supplies for its community. Fall crew members help bring that year's production through its final harvest and distribution period. What the employer is looking for • Be interested in local organic agriculture and willing to learn. • Be reliable, punctual, and comfortable working as part of a team. • Handle outdoor conditions and repetitive standing, bending, and kneeling tasks. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Pay starts at $18 hourly. Work runs August through late November 2026, Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m., for 40 hours weekly. A half-hour lunch is paid. Farm vegetables and krauts are provided. On-farm housing is unavailable.
