About this job

Join the seasonal crew at Walking Bird Farm, a family-run grower of vegetables, berries, flowers, and herbs in Galloway Township. The farm combines growing work with an on-site store and pick-your-own fields, giving crew members experience with both crop production and the customers who enjoy the harvest. Hands-on instruction in farming and management is part of the opportunity. What you will do • Help raise crops in the greenhouse and field, including sowing, transplanting, watering, weeding, and supporting climbing plants. • Harvest produce and handle washing, sorting, storage, and packing while following the farm's food-safety procedures. • Keep greenhouse and harvest records and assist with other growing projects as assigned. • Support farm-store, market, and event setup, service, and cleanup alongside field duties. How the work fits together Walking Bird is owned by Jen and Ryan LaMonaca, who took over the former B&B Farms in 2020 after a decade working and leasing land there. Today, their 40-acre operation connects local growers, artisans, and customers through its store and farm membership program. Customers can harvest designated crops themselves or cut flowers in season. The store also offers locally sourced foods alongside the farm's own produce. Crew work helps connect these parts of the business: growing and preparing crops, then supporting the places where the community buys and enjoys them. What the employer is looking for • Be organized, willing to learn, and comfortable moving between individual work and a shared crew assignment. • Be prepared for demanding outdoor work in changing weather. A valid driver's license and attention to produce quality are expected. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The 2026 employment season runs through November. Discuss your available start date, weekly hours, wage, and any market or event shifts with Jen before accepting a position. Training is hands-on, with responsibilities spanning growing areas and customer-facing farm activities. How to apply Email your resume to jen@walkingbirdfarm.com with Farm Crew in the subject line. Include your availability and any relevant growing, outdoor-work, or customer-service experience. The farm is at 250 S. Mannheim Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215.
