About this job

Jubilee Healing Farm is hiring a part-time Farm Worker & Educator in Hillsborough. Help maintain a productive micro-farm and support participants in farm-based activities alongside clinical staff. The work combines hands-on growing with patient, encouraging communication in a setting that connects people with the land. What you will do • Plant, weed, mow, prepare beds, harvest, start seeds, and help with crop rotation and cover crops. • Install and maintain basic irrigation; prepare and transport small harvests to partners including PORCH and TABLE. • Plan priorities with the owner and report progress, problems, and supply needs. • Help identify suitable participant tasks and support one hour of daily farm programming with clinical staff. How the work fits together Jubilee's nonprofit farm occupies ten acres in Orange County. Its mission brings together care for people and care for the surrounding ecology, with an emphasis on relationships across generations. Volunteer activities, workshops, and community gatherings are part of the farm's work. The setting offers an alternative way for people to spend time together: participating in the practical, seasonal tasks of tending land. Staff contribute to a place intended to be welcoming, supportive, and connected to the wider community. In this role, producing a harvest and making farm activities accessible to participants are both important parts of the day. What the employer is looking for • Have experience in small-scale or sustainable farming, gardening, or landscaping. • Bring initiative, organization, collaboration, patience, and empathy when working with people experiencing mental-health challenges. • Be comfortable lifting up to 40 pounds, bending, kneeling, and working outdoors in variable weather. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The schedule is Tuesday–Friday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., totaling sixteen hours weekly, with seasonal weather adjustments possible. Pay starts at $17.65 per hour. Therapeutic horticulture, peer support, or nature-based program experience is helpful. Participant support uses a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach alongside the clinical team. How to apply Send your resume and cover letter to Nora Dennis at nora@jubilee.clinic. Describe both your growing experience and your interest in supporting people through farm activities.
