About this job
East River Nursery is hiring for greenhouse and retail work in Huron. Combine plant care with customer service at a local nursery, garden center, and gift store. Plant knowledge is welcome, but training is available.
What you will do
• Plant, water, fertilize, and groom greenhouse and nursery stock.
• Help customers choose plants, gardening items, gifts, and decor.
• Operate the register, price inventory, and arrange displays.
• Load customer vehicles and assist with deliveries.
How the work fits together
East River Nursery brings together plants, gardening supplies, and design advice for customers in the Huron area. Its selection includes trees, shrubs, perennial flowers, and seasonal garden products. The business has worked in horticulture for more than three decades and belongs to the South Dakota Nursery and Landscape Association. Alongside retail sales, its designers help customers plan outdoor spaces using photographs and measurements of their properties. Computer imaging lets a customer see a proposed planting before installation. The nursery's combination of living plants and practical advice gives local gardeners a place to develop ideas as well as buy materials. Its shop at 5659 Dakota Avenue South also carries gift items throughout the year, connecting seasonal gardening with a broader retail business.
What the employer is looking for
• Be friendly, motivated, willing to learn, and capable of heavy lifting.
• Have a valid license and dependable driving record; company drivers must be 18 or older.

Seasonal work continues through September, with possible extension. Expect 40 guaranteed weekly hours and potentially 60-plus at peaks, with overtime at time-and-a-half. Pay depends on experience and is issued weekly. Shirts are supplied; closed-toe shoes are required. Occasional Sunday plant care may be needed despite the store being closed.
