Interior Plant Care Technician

Moana Nursery is hiring a part-time Interior Plant Service Technician to care for living plants in commercial and residential spaces around Reno. The company is a closely held, family-owned northern Nevada garden center and nursery rather than a university, public agency, or national big-box retailer. This route-based gardening position is a good fit for someone who notices small changes in plant health, enjoys independent work, and can provide thoughtful service inside clients' homes and workplaces. What you will do • Manage an assigned group of client accounts and organize each day's service route efficiently • Visit customers on weekly or biweekly schedules and provide consistent horticultural maintenance • Water plants according to species, container, light, and soil-moisture conditions rather than relying on a single routine • Dust, groom, wash, and shine foliage so indoor displays remain healthy and presentable • Track quarterly fertilization needs and complete treatments at the proper time • Identify insect activity, pest damage, disease symptoms, or other plant-health concerns and carry out approved treatments • Communicate special requests or developing issues so customers and the service team receive timely follow-up • Assist with new plant installations and other horticultural projects when scheduled • Keep the assigned vehicle clean, report mechanical concerns, and record job time through the company's route software • Maintain courteous, professional relationships with clients, coworkers, and managers Qualifications and working conditions Applicants need a high-school diploma or equivalent, a clean driving record, clear written and verbal communication, and strong attention to detail. Previous knowledge of tropical or indoor plant care, horticulture, landscape maintenance, or plant installation is helpful but listed as a preference rather than a strict requirement. Practical problem-solving and the ability to make sound decisions while working alone are especially useful. The job involves carrying full watering cans and lifting approximately 25 to 50 pounds. Technicians must also be comfortable using a ladder and working at height when plants are installed above floor level. Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching are part of the route. Some assignments are completed independently, while installations and larger projects may require teamwork. Schedule, pay, and benefits This is a part-time Monday-through-Friday position. The weekly schedule has some flexibility, although hours may change with client and business needs. Pay ranges from $16 to $18 per hour based on experience, expertise, and assigned responsibilities.
