Baker Garden & Gift is hiring an Outdoor Greenhouse Sales Associate in Fargo. Help customers choose plants and garden supplies while caring for the living stock in a family-run nursery. The role combines practical plant knowledge with attentive customer service and active work in the outdoor sales area. What you will do • Welcome customers, listen to their gardening needs, and recommend suitable plants and supplies. • Explain plant care, answer product questions, and help shoppers make purchase decisions. • Water and prune plants, unload incoming shipments, and restock plant material. • Learn diagnostic questions and product information through on-the-job training. How the work fits together Baker began as Harry Baker's roadside plant stand in 1957 and developed into a nursery, garden center, and production farm. Three generations of the family have helped shape the business. Its nineteen-acre growing property includes greenhouses where much of the nursery's bedding-plant stock is produced, connecting the retail garden center with local plant production. The University Drive shop also offers gardening supplies, container design, and workshops for the Fargo-Moorhead community. In the greenhouse sales role, you'll be working at the point where plants meet the people who will grow them at home. Helping those customers understand care requirements is as important as keeping the stock in good condition before it leaves the nursery. What the employer is looking for • Have strong communication, listening, sales, and customer-service skills. • Bring working plant or gardening knowledge; retail and plant experience are preferred. • Be able to learn the point-of-sale system and work on your feet, including bending, kneeling, and occasional 50-pound lifting. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Work includes exposure to changing weather. Full-time, part-time, and seasonal schedules are considered through the application process.
