Tinga Nursery is hiring a Plant Sales Associate in Castle Hayne. This customer-facing nursery role is for someone who enjoys plants, likes helping people, and is comfortable with physical work outdoors. What you will do • Help retail customers with plant purchases, drawing on your basic knowledge of plants. • Lift, move, load, and unload nursery plants as part of the sales operation. • Balance customer needs and other tasks while maintaining friendly, attentive service. How the work fits together The Tinga family continues to operate the nursery established by Eelco Tinga in 1913. Several of the original farm buildings remain in use, while production has evolved from cold frames and hand watering to greenhouses and computerized irrigation. The nursery serves both homeowners and commercial customers. Its plant selection ranges from trees and flowering shrubs to perennials, grasses, and groundcovers. Azaleas, camellias, hydrangeas, hollies, and magnolias are among the plants represented in its guide; blueberry varieties offer options for edible gardens as well. Retail sales connect this growing business with people choosing plants for their own spaces. The role combines that customer interaction with moving living inventory, rather than being limited to a desk or an indoor counter. What the employer is looking for • Have basic plant knowledge and enjoy working directly with customers. • Be friendly, hardworking, and able to switch between tasks. • Be comfortable working in outdoor conditions and physically handling plant material.
