Planting & Delivery Gardener

Moana Nursery is hiring a Planting and Delivery Teammate for its South Virginia Street Garden Center in Reno. This hands-on gardening role combines plant care, residential installation, irrigation assistance, delivery work, and customer service. Moana Nursery is a locally rooted, family-owned garden-center and nursery business, not a university or national retail corporation. The opening was refreshed by the employer on August 10, 2026 and is intended for someone who enjoys active outdoor work and wants to build practical horticulture and equipment skills. Planting and garden work • Care for trees, shrubs, and other live plant material while it is staged for customer projects • Load plant material carefully, protect it during transport, and unload it at residential properties • Dig planting holes and install trees, shrubs, and related materials according to the job plan • Add to or connect existing irrigation where required for newly installed plants • Keep plant material, tools, equipment, and the work area organized and ready for the next assignment • Support the quality of each job from garden-center pickup through final placement at the customer's property Delivery and customer responsibilities Team members complete vehicle safety checks before leaving, keep company vehicles clean, and report maintenance needs to the coordinator. During the day, you will communicate by radio and tablet, use dispatch software to follow efficient routes, and update customers if arrival times change. You will answer reasonable questions about products and services and treat each home, plant, and order with care. Forklift use, loading, and delivery are part of the position, with training and assignment based on your qualifications. Experience and physical requirements Previous landscaping experience is not required. The employer is willing to consider applicants who bring a constructive attitude, reliable attendance, attention to detail, and a genuine willingness to learn. A valid Nevada driver's license, clean driving record, equipment experience, and prior landscape work are preferred. Candidates should be safety-minded and comfortable asking questions rather than taking shortcuts. This is a physically active outdoor job. You must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds, including trees and bags of soil; spend extended periods on your feet; and work outdoors through changing northern Nevada conditions. The role suits someone who can maintain a steady pace while still handling plants and customer property carefully. Schedule, pay, and benefits The garden center operates seven days a week and is busiest on weekends, so applicants need availability during the week and on weekends and should clearly state any scheduling limits. Starting pay is $19 per hour and can increase with experience, expertise, and responsibility.
