About this job

Exploration Acres is hiring for the Pumpkin Patch Team Member position in Lafayette, IN. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property. What you will do • Prepare the assigned farm attraction, guest area, produce display, equipment, or supplies before opening and keep the area orderly through the shift. • Welcome visitors, explain the assigned activity or farm procedure clearly, and follow the employer's rules for safe guest movement and participation. • Communicate crowd, weather, equipment, product, safety, or customer-service concerns to the farm lead promptly. • Welcome visitors to the pumpkin-patch area, explain the farm's picking or purchase process, and help guests locate the appropriate route or assistance. • Keep the patch entrance, gathering area, carts, signs, and assigned supplies orderly and reset them as visitor traffic changes. • Communicate weather, field, crowd, product, equipment, or safety concerns and assist the wider fall-farm team when directed. How the work fits together Agritourism work connects visitors with a working farm during a concentrated seasonal window. The team prepares before opening, checks the assigned area and supplies, welcomes and directs guests, resets the space throughout service, and completes an orderly close. Employees must balance warmth and efficiency with clear boundaries around farm equipment, animals, crops, traffic, food, and weather. At Exploration Acres, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Welcome visitors to the pumpkin-patch area, explain the farm's picking or purchase process, and help guests locate the appropriate route or assistance. Keep the patch entrance, gathering area, carts, signs, and assigned supplies orderly and reset them as visitor traffic changes. Communicate weather, field, crowd, product, equipment, or safety concerns and assist the wider fall-farm team when directed. What the employer is looking for • Friendly, reliable customer service and ability to stay attentive through active outdoor shifts with changing weather and visitor volume. • Availability during the farm's September 18–November 1 season, especially its published Friday-through-Sunday operating periods. • Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures. • Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The farm season runs September 18 through November 1, with published operating hours Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday, and Thursday evenings in October. Employees age 18 and older start at $13 per hour; the page also lists free admission, an employee discount, and an end-of-season social event. The employer publishes $13 per hour. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer. This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift. Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated. How to apply Use the employer's application linked from the Exploration Acres employment page or email mary@explorationacres.com and identify Pumpkin Patch.
