Farm School Tour Guide — Fall Season
Livesay Orchards
✨
About this job
Livesay Orchards is recruiting School Tour Guides for its fall season in Porter. Help children, parents, and teachers explore a working family farm during the autumn harvest. This is a weekday visitor-facing position.
What you will do
• Lead groups through the farm's tour areas and explain each activity.
• Supervise group safety and keep visits moving to schedule.
• Interact warmly with children and accompanying adults.
• Learn additional assignments through cross-training when needed.
How the work fits together
Brothers Kent and Steve Livesay own and farm the orchard, with family members involved in growing, machinery, sales, bookkeeping, and school visits. The original orchard property entered the family in 1966. Today, peaches, apples, melons, pumpkins, vegetables, field crops, and cattle form a diversified farming business. Its open-air market connects visitors with produce grown nearby, and pick-your-own activities bring customers into the orchard. Autumn hayrides pass fruit trees and field crops on the way to the pumpkin patch. Dawna Livesay manages the school-tour program. Guides help visiting classes move through this agricultural setting, connecting the day's activities with the crops and work happening around them. It is an opportunity to work outdoors while helping children experience a farm firsthand.
What the employer is looking for
• Be cheerful, dependable, and comfortable helping groups of visitors.
• Work well with others and maintain quality while keeping tasks moving.
• Be willing to learn, stay engaged, and communicate your availability clearly.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
Fall work runs from late September through October. School tours take place on weekdays; discuss any additional weekend assignments and your weekly hours. Pay and staff perks are discussed during hiring. The farm offers opportunities to increase hourly pay, but no starting rate is specified. The worksite is 39232 East 231st Street South.
How to apply
Complete the new-hire application, mark your fall availability, and explain your interest in school-tour work in the written responses. Include employment and education details and two unrelated adult references. A resume is optional. Contact 918-483-2102 with questions about the tour team.
