Seasonal Market Lead & Vegetable Crew Member
Little Saint Farm
š š¾ š„
About this job
Little Saint Farm is hiring a Seasonal Market Lead who will also participate in vegetable production at its regenerative farm in Healdsburg, California. Since 2020, the team has converted former vineyard ground into a diverse farm ecosystem that supplies vegetables and flowers to local restaurants, CSA customers, and farmers markets. The role follows food from nursery sowing and field care through harvest, farm-stand pickup, and direct conversations with customers.
Market and CSA responsibilities
⢠Set up and take down the farmers-market booth and CSA farm stand
⢠Arrange products carefully, keep displays stocked, and protect quality throughout service
⢠Complete direct sales and handle monetary transactions accurately while speaking with customers
⢠Supervise CSA member pickups and resolve ordinary questions about orders or logistics
⢠Explain the farm's crops and regenerative practices in clear, welcoming language
⢠Maintain useful awareness of inventory and communicate shortages, quality issues, or customer feedback
The Market Lead needs to think and communicate while working quickly. Customers may arrive while products need restocking, transactions are in progress, and a pickup question needs attention. The successful person can prioritize calmly, do basic mental math, represent the farm professionally, and ask for help before a small issue becomes a larger one.
Field and nursery work
Outside market hours, this employee is part of the farm crew. Assignments include field preparation, bed management, sowing, nursery care, transplanting, weeding, crop maintenance, harvest, washing, packing, light construction, and irrigation projects. The role is intentionally varied, so applicants should want both public-facing responsibility and repetitive physical crop work.
Qualifications
Farmers-market or comparable customer-facing retail experience is required. Prior farm experience is strongly preferred but not mandatory for someone who learns quickly and has proven physical-work reliability. Candidates need a valid driver's license and clean driving record for farm vehicles and deliveries, dependable transportation, and availability for Tuesday evening CSA work and Saturday markets.
The job requires indoor and outdoor work across changing conditions, regular lifting of 50 pounds, and repeated reaching, grasping, standing, sitting, climbing, bending, and squatting. Applicants should be comfortable using ladders, power tools, and heavy equipment after appropriate instruction. Clear communication, self-direction, teamwork, punctuality, and eligibility to work in the United States are required.
Season, pay, and benefits
The published season runs through November, with potential advancement into a full-time role. Pay is $22 per hour. Listed extras include farm produce and flowers, a Little Saint restaurant discount, select paid holidays, and opportunities for advancement. Employees who move into qualifying full-time work after 60 days may be eligible for paid time off and enrollment in employer-provided medical, dental, vision, life-insurance, and 401(k) plans; applicants should confirm which benefits apply to their exact seasonal schedule.
How to apply
Email info@littlesaintfarm.com with a resume, two professional references, and a cover letter describing your interest in food and farming. Address your Tuesday and Saturday availability, customer-service or market experience, driving history, physical-work background, and any familiarity with crop production, CSA distribution, sales, irrigation, tools, or post-harvest handling.
