Seasonal Parks & Horticulture Maintenance Worker

The City of Flagstaff is accepting applications on a continuous basis for a temporary Parks Maintenance Worker supporting the city's busy summer growing season. This outdoor role blends horticulture, irrigation, grounds care, pest management, and equipment operation across parks, trails, open spaces, and recreation facilities. What you will do • Plant and care for trees, shrubs, turf, and seasonal landscape areas • Water, cultivate, mow, trim, aerate, weed, rake, and remove spent plant material • Assist with disease and pest control and other horticultural work • Inspect, maintain, and repair sprinkler and irrigation systems, including new installations • Operate tractors, loaders, tillers, mowers, sprayers, spreaders, trenchers, water trailers, and hand tools • Maintain trails, park structures, benches, shelters, signs, and other public-use areas • Complete litter removal, cleaning, painting, and seasonal facility work • Follow safe work practices around equipment, chemicals, the public, and changing weather Schedule and requirements The standard schedule is either Tuesday–Saturday or Sunday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.; a four-day schedule that includes one weekend day may be used. The appointment is funded through the end of August. Applicants must be ready for sustained physical outdoor work and must complete the city's post-offer requirements, which include a physical, fingerprints, a motor-vehicle review, an essential-functions lift test, and specified vaccinations.
