Tropical Greenhouse Associate - Part-Time

Payne's Nurseries is hiring a part-time Tropical Greenhouse Associate at its North nursery in Santa Fe. Combine hands-on houseplant care with customer service in a family-owned growing business. The Payne family has worked in Santa Fe horticulture since 1952, and the nursery continues to focus on healthy plants, practical gardening expertise, and personal service. What you will do • Water tropical plants and help with the everyday care of the greenhouse's houseplants. • Assist with up-potting services, moving plants into larger containers as needed. • Help customers and provide friendly, attentive service in the tropical greenhouse. How the work fits together The North location combines a tropical greenhouse with other greenhouses used to grow annuals and perennials. Its houseplant selection includes plants raised locally and plants brought in from warmer growing regions. The tropical range covers foliage plants such as pothos, philodendrons, dracaenas, and rubber plants, alongside orchids and seasonal flowering gifts. Some plants grown outdoors in warmer climates are sold as indoor plants for New Mexico homes. The associate's work brings together care of that living inventory, the nursery's potting service, and the customers shopping for plants. The wider nursery also supplies trees, shrubs, and other plants to home gardeners and local professionals. What the employer is looking for • Bring relevant plant or garden-center experience and an interest in caring for tropical plants. • Be comfortable helping customers, cooperating with teammates, and following nursery safety procedures. • Be prepared for active greenhouse work, including standing, watering in heat, and safely handling plants and stock.
