Wash Station and CSA Market Attendant

Big Train Farm is hiring a part-time Wash Station and CSA Market Attendant. Prepare vegetables for customers and help run the farm's weekly share pickup, combining independent work in the wash barn with friendly public interaction. What you will do • Run the vegetable-washing station on Mondays and Tuesdays. • Help operate the on-farm CSA pickup on Thursdays. • Work reliably without close supervision, both alone and around customers. • Coordinate with owner John Kenny and the returning farm crew. How the work fits together Big Train began on a small leased plot at Urban Edge Farm in Cranston. As the business developed, John Kenny focused increasingly on a community-supported agriculture model, building ongoing relationships with households instead of relying mainly on market sales. John and Mindy Walls purchased eleven acres in Glocester in 2014 and gradually prepared fields, greenhouses, a barn, and a home. By 2018, the operation had moved entirely to that property. The farm's history reflects years of improving difficult ground, experimenting with growing methods, and building a workable small business. Employees and work-share members have been important to that development. Washing produce and welcoming members connect the growing work with the people who support each season's harvest. What the employer is looking for • Bring curiosity, punctuality, and a courteous approach to coworkers and customers. • Have reliable transportation and be prepared for heavy lifting. • No previous farming experience is required. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Pay is $17/hour for approximately 30 hours weekly. Regular seasonal hours continue through November.
