About this job

Sequatchie Cove Creamery is hiring a part-time Cheese Production Support Assistant. Help age, finish, and stock artisan cheeses in a rural creamery near Jasper. This is hands-on dairy processing work; prior cheesemaking experience is not required. What you will do • Assist with cheese aging, including salting, piercing, and washing. • Wrap Shakerag Blue in leaves, apply wax, and stock Walden cheese. • Keep production records and follow sanitation and food-safety procedures. • Contribute to the food-safety team and complete directed training. How the work fits together Nathan and Padgett Arnold began making cheese in 2010, drawing inspiration from the Sequatchie Valley and Cumberland Plateau. Their early work grew from a small farmstead herd and a close relationship between pasture, cattle, and milk. Over time, the creamery developed its own regional cheese styles and expanded to include milk from nearby producers. The cheeses reflect the place where they are made, with varieties named for local landscapes and traditions. Aging and finishing are important parts of that approach: care continues after the initial cheesemaking, as each batch develops its character. The support assistant joins an independent business built around those hands-on methods, helping carry a regional agricultural product through the later stages of production. What the employer is looking for • Work carefully, maintain good hygiene, and stay productive without constant supervision. • Lift 50 pounds and handle repeated bending, standing, and cheese handling. • Work around dairy, fig leaves, and whiskey, as well as cold, damp, hot, or humid conditions. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Starting pay is $16 hourly for approximately 20–30 hours weekly. The schedule varies, and weekend flexibility is required. A third-party food-safety certificate must be obtained as directed within six months of starting. How to apply Email sequatchiecovecreamery@gmail.com about the production-support opening. Describe your availability and relevant food, production, or practical work experience. The creamery is at 2216 Coppinger Cove Road, Sequatchie.
