Farm/Ranch Hand — Equine Care & Maintenance

Oklahoma State University is hiring a regular full-time Farm/Ranch Hand in Stillwater. The position is responsible for feeding and caring for university- and client-owned animals while maintaining the buildings, equipment, and working spaces that support animal care and agricultural activities. What you will do • Feed, water, observe, and provide daily care for university and client animals • Use sound equine-husbandry practices when handling horses and completing care routines • Monitor animal condition and promptly communicate health, behavior, feed, or facility concerns • Clean and maintain stalls, pens, barns, work areas, and other animal facilities • Complete general building maintenance and practical carpentry repairs • Use welding skills for ranch, facility, or equipment projects when assigned • Operate agricultural machinery and other equipment safely • Inspect, troubleshoot, service, and help repair farm and ranch equipment • Support basic agricultural, horticultural, natural-resource, or research activities as operational needs change • Keep tools, supplies, and work areas organized and follow university safety procedures Qualifications Applicants need a high school diploma or GED plus three years of work experience, or two years of post-secondary education plus one year of related experience. A valid driver's license is required. The university specifically seeks experience in equine husbandry, welding, carpentry, mechanical maintenance, farming practices, equipment operation and repair, and basic agricultural or natural-resources research practices. Five years of related work and two years of college or technical training are preferred. The hiring range is $15.75–$19.50 per hour. This is a continuous, regular staff appointment rather than a fixed seasonal job; the schedule will be determined by the department. Applications are accepted until a successful candidate is hired.
