About this job

Plumper Farms is hiring an activities crew for the fall 2026 pumpkin season. Help visitors enjoy hayrides, pig races, pumpkin and apple cannons, and other farm attractions at this family-run property outside Portland. What you will do • Provide friendly assistance at assigned farm activities. • Welcome visitors and help them make the most of their time at the farm. • Work flexibly with the team as activity areas become busy during the festival. How the work fits together The Kessinger family bought this farm in 1993 and opened its pumpkin patch in 1998. Jim and Peggy developed the property into a place for seasonal visits, including pumpkins, Christmas trees, farm animals, and school trips. Their son Peter grew up around the operation and returned to take a larger role after working in software engineering. He and Jim began transitioning ownership in 2024, with Peter involved in planting, harvesting, building, repairs, and sharing the farm with visitors. The activities crew supports that visitor side of the farm. Guests come for a day together in the country, and welcoming staff help connect the attractions with the wider farm experience. What the employer is looking for • Be at least 14 years old. • Have weekend availability; weekday availability is also useful. • Bring enthusiasm, a friendly manner, and an interest in helping visitors enjoy their day. Schedule, conditions, and compensation The season runs September 19–November 1. New high-school workers earn $17/hour; new adult and college workers earn $19/hour. Returning-worker rates are higher. Benefits include a shared tip pool, employee admission, four guest passes, and discounts on selected food and farm products. How to apply Use Apply Now on the farm's Employment page and indicate interest in activities work. Provide your availability for the fall festival. The farm is at 11435 NW Old Cornelius Pass Road. Applicants seeking seasonal work, including students and retirees, are welcome.
