Greenhouse Farm Maintenance Technician

Silver Stream Farm is seeking a part-time Maintenance Technician to keep its year-round greenhouse and supporting farm systems dependable in Pinedale, Wyoming. The farm grows local food at roughly 8,000 feet, where equipment reliability, heat, water and safe winter access directly affect every harvest. This is a practical specialist role on a small team, with ownership of preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation and timely communication when licensed help is needed. Greenhouse and facility systems • Inspect and maintain greenhouse structures, doors, vents, fans, heaters, boilers and climate-control components • Check irrigation pumps, filters, plumbing and drainage and correct routine problems before they interrupt crop care • Maintain lighting, sensors, control panels and the physical wiring and enclosures used by greenhouse automation • Diagnose mechanical, plumbing, structural and basic electrical issues within the employee's training and legal scope • Keep farm buildings, staff housing, storage areas, walkways, access roads, fences and grounds in safe working order • Record inspections, scheduled service, repairs and parts use so recurring problems can be identified Equipment and vehicles The technician services tractors, sprayers, pumps, generators, snow-removal equipment and other farm machinery. Routine work includes fluid checks, oil and filter changes, lubrication, seasonal servicing and straightforward repairs. Major or regulated repairs should be diagnosed clearly and coordinated with qualified outside vendors. The technician maintains logs and communicates risks, downtime and repair status to the Operations Manager and grow team. Winter readiness is an essential part of this Wyoming position. The technician leads routine snow mitigation around roads, walkways, roofs and work areas, monitors drifting and ice, and safely operates plowing, blowing or related equipment. Heavy snow, high elevation and severe cold can threaten employee access and greenhouse operations, so the role includes on-call response to urgent facility failures when needed. Safety and judgment The job calls for someone who notices small warning signs and acts before they become expensive emergencies. Applicants should have practical experience in facilities maintenance, mechanics, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, greenhouse systems or a closely related trade. They must use manuals and schematics, organize tools and parts, solve problems methodically and recognize when a task requires a licensed electrician or another specialist. Work takes place around moving equipment, tools, water, electricity, beneficial insects, bees and organic pest-control products. Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, ladder use and lifting as much as 60 pounds. The technician must work safely in hot greenhouse conditions as well as snow, wind, ice and winter storms, monitor personal fatigue and hydration, and follow lockout, equipment and farm safety procedures. Working relationships This position reports to the Operations Manager and partners with the Head Grower and production crew. The technician may help with facility-related improvements and seasonal construction while keeping core systems reliable. Clear handoffs matter: the grow team should know what failed, what was repaired, what remains at risk and when a vendor is expected. Schedule and compensation This is an onsite part-time position for 10–20 hours per week, with on-call availability for urgent facility needs. Pay is $26–$34 per hour depending on experience.
