Greenhouse Growing Associate

Signal Mountain Nursery is hiring a Greenhouse Growing Associate. Help plant, water, and restock living inventory at a family-owned nursery that grows most of its plants on site for Chattanooga-area gardeners. What you will do • Plant greenhouse inventory and carry out watering work. • Restock plants as part of the nursery's daily growing operation. • Adapt to changing daily assignments and work independently when needed. • Help in other areas as the team needs support. How the work fits together The nursery's roots go back to Parry Nurseries, founded in 1947 by Ben Addie and Arthur Parry. Peonies were an early focus, followed by daylilies and the development of new varieties. The next generation established Signal Mountain Nursery in 1977, and family members continue to manage it today. Its growing areas now support flowering annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, groundcovers, and tropical plants. Fall mums and locally grown poinsettias are part of the seasonal offering. Visitors shop in a garden-like setting and can also find soils, mulches, fertilizers, and decorative items. Growing plants locally is central to the business, connecting the work behind the greenhouse benches with the quality and variety that customers see in the garden center. What the employer is looking for • Bring a positive attitude, curiosity, problem-solving ability, and a strong work ethic. • Be able to lift 50 pounds or more and remain on your feet for eight hours. • Be willing to learn and work at a brisk pace; prior farm experience and an advanced degree are not required.
