Greenhouse Production Assistant

Gotham Greens is hiring a Greenhouse Production Assistant for its climate-controlled hydroponic facilities on Chicago's South Side. This is a hands-on production role for someone comfortable with repetitive physical work, food-safety procedures, and a steady team pace. Previous natural or organic food experience is helpful but not required. Production responsibilities • Pack containers of fresh produce to the correct weight and visual standard • Sort product for quality and remove items that do not meet specifications • Handle produce and packaging carefully to protect quality and shelf life • Transplant seedlings, harvest plants, and handle greenhouse growing equipment • Organize and load production supplies and equipment • Support inventory control and cold-storage organization • Label, box, and stage finished product and production materials Food safety and sanitation • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Agricultural Practices, company food-safety policies, and sanitation procedures • Clean production areas, equipment, tools, and supplies each day • Help with scheduled cleaning of shared facility areas Qualifications • Authorized to work in the United States • Able to lift 50 pounds and stand for a full eight-hour shift • Able to maintain a consistent pace without losing attention to detail • Reliable transportation required • Available for varying schedules, including weekends and holidays • Comfortable working in temperatures ranging from about 55°F in the packhouse to 90°F in the greenhouse Compensation The posted wage is $16.90 per hour.
