Nursery Production Team Member
Civano Growers

About this job
Civano Growers is accepting direct applications from motivated, hardworking people interested in nursery production at its South Tucson growing operation. The nursery supplies desert-adapted plants to independent nurseries, landscape contractors, and other local buyers. A production team member helps keep container plants watered, spaced, healthy, organized, and ready for sale. The opportunity suits someone who wants daily, practical plant work in a professional wholesale nursery.
What you will do
• Water and monitor assigned nursery blocks according to plant needs, weather, container size, and supervisor direction.
• Move, space, consolidate, label, and organize container plants while protecting roots and growth.
• Assist with potting, propagation, pruning, staking, fertilizing, cleanup, and related production tasks as trained.
• Watch for visible plant stress, irrigation failures, weeds, pests, disease, or damaged stock and report findings.
• Prepare plant material for customer or delivery needs while maintaining accurate variety and quantity handling.
• Keep aisles, work stations, tools, and production areas orderly and safe.
How the work fits together
Nursery priorities begin with living inventory. Water and plant-health checks cannot be postponed simply because another task is convenient, so employees follow the day's block assignments and communicate urgent problems quickly. Production work then moves through propagation or potting, cultural care, spacing, organization, order preparation, and cleanup. Accurate labels and careful handling protect months of plant growth and help the sales team deliver the correct material.
What the employer is looking for
• Motivation, a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn nursery methods are the qualities emphasized by the employer.
• Ability to work carefully around live plants and repeat active lifting, carrying, standing, walking, and hand tasks.
• Dependable availability during the nursery's adjusted summer and non-summer operating hours.
• Prior nursery, greenhouse, farm, gardening, irrigation, warehouse, or outdoor experience should be described if applicable.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
The careers page does not publish pay, benefits, or a specific job title. The nursery lists Monday–Friday hours of 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., shifting to 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. from May through September, but candidates should confirm the actual employee schedule, weekly hours, overtime, starting wage, benefit eligibility, and the production assignment currently available.
This is an in-person horticulture and outdoor position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated.
How to apply
Apply in person at 12190 South Old Nogales Highway in Tucson or follow the careers page's instruction to send a résumé to the nursery's HR contact. Reference nursery production, describe plant or outdoor experience, and include current availability and contact information.
