Orchard Tour Guide

Weaver's Orchard is hiring seasonal Tour Guides to introduce children and other visitors to local fruit growing. Lead outdoor walking tours and hands-on activities at this family orchard in Morgantown. What you will do • Welcome students, teachers, and parents and guide them through the orchard. • Share orchard knowledge and lead special activities for each group. • Prepare materials before tours and clean up afterward. • Keep the experience informative, engaging, and enjoyable for participants. How the work fits together The Weaver family's fruit-growing history began before Daniel Weaver purchased the current Berks County property in 1932. Early sales involved taking produce into Reading, followed by a growing business at the farm itself. Later generations expanded the market, developed pick-your-own visits, and added more ways for customers to spend time at the orchard. Family members continue to work in its operations, wholesale business, and café. Tours give visitors a closer look at the agricultural work behind those experiences. For children, an orchard visit can connect familiar foods with the trees, fields, and people that produce them. Guides help make that connection clear and memorable while supporting the family's long-running relationship with its community. What the employer is looking for • Bring strong communication skills and enthusiasm for agriculture and education. • Have the stamina for active outdoor walking tours. • Experience with children or farm and orchard work is preferred. Schedule, conditions, and compensation This is flexible, part-time seasonal work for spring and fall tours, with occasional summer opportunities. Pay and the available tour schedule are discussed during hiring. The orchard is closed Sundays, and the role is based outdoors at the farm.
