Help families enjoy a seasonal visit to a working farm, with daytime weekend shifts and selected October Fridays. How the work fits together Kevin McCall began farming the Moriarty property in 1996 after working on his grandfather's hog farm. His early crops were alfalfa and pumpkins, which initially went to grocery stores. A teacher's request for a harvest field trip introduced a different way to connect farming with the community. Kirsten joined the business after leaving teaching, and the family developed the pumpkin patch together. Kevin continues growing alfalfa, corn, beans, and pumpkins, while visitors now pick the pumpkin crop themselves instead of buying from the former wholesale operation. Their son Caleb returned to work on the farm after studying plant and soil science. The seasonal visitor program helps sustain this agricultural business and gives families a chance to see where crops grow. Activities staff support the welcoming, community-focused side of that work.
