Summer Wrangler

Sundance Trail Guest Ranch is seeking a horse-savvy Wrangler for the remainder of its 2026 summer season in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. Sundance is a small, close-knit guest ranch where the horse program and personal hospitality are central to each stay. The position combines daily herd care and guided riding with the all-hands teamwork that keeps a family-scale ranch running well. Horse and trail responsibilities • Feed, catch, groom, and saddle horses for the day's riding program • Observe horses closely and provide basic equine first aid within your training and the ranch's procedures • Help match riders with suitable horses based on ability, comfort, and safety considerations • Lead scenic guest trail rides while giving clear instruction and maintaining awareness of the entire group • Share useful horsemanship guidance and local stories in a friendly, engaging manner • Clean and organize tack and help maintain horse areas, trails, and ranch equipment Guest and team responsibilities Wranglers are part of the guest experience beyond the barn. You will join guests for meals, participate in evening activities, answer questions, and contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. Because this is a small ranch, the team also pitches in with kitchen work, housekeeping, ranch maintenance, dishes, and other practical jobs when needed. Flexibility and a willingness to help outside a narrow job description are important. Qualifications Applicants need proficient horseback-riding skills, substantial comfort handling horses from the ground, and basic equine first-aid knowledge. Current CPR and first-aid certification—or the willingness to obtain both before starting—is required. The ranch is looking for mature, physically fit, self-motivated people who communicate warmly with adults and children, take direction well, and remain calm when plans change. Strong hospitality instincts matter as much as riding ability. Schedule and compensation The summer operating season runs April through October. The normal schedule is about 40 hours per week, five days on and two days off. Additional hours are arranged in advance and paid at time-and-a-half. Base pay is $15 per hour plus tips. Housing and healthy ranch-style meals are included at no cost, and team members may take part in ranch activities during free time.
