The University of Florida is hiring a Therapeutic Horticulture Program Coordinator and Groundskeeper III for Wilmot Botanical Gardens in Gainesville. The role combines specialty-garden and nursery care with volunteer leadership, landscape planning, equipment upkeep, and daily stewardship of a healing-garden environment. Responsibilities • Coordinate, train, and work alongside volunteers, students, and other garden participants • Help design garden spaces and select, install, and maintain appropriate plant material • Care for specialty gardens, nursery plants, camellia collections, lawns, paths, and landscaped areas • Mow, prune, weed, water, fertilize, mulch, and complete seasonal planting • Apply herbicides or pesticides safely and maintain required records • Monitor plant health, irrigation, water features, tools, equipment, and garden facilities • Manage supplies, inventory, purchasing needs, and assigned budget information • Operate and maintain landscape tools and equipment • Keep public and program areas attractive, safe, accessible, and ready for therapeutic-horticulture activities Qualifications The minimum requirement is completion of ninth grade plus two years of appropriate experience. UF prefers candidates with four years of professional landscaping, public-garden, or garden-design experience. The position calls for strong horticultural judgment, dependable organization, respectful volunteer supervision, and the ability to complete physical outdoor work in changing weather. The posted pay range is $19.16–$21.07 per hour. This is a full-time university position. Applications are due August 8, 2026.
