Urban Farmer Educator

Green City Growers is hiring two experienced Urban Farmer Educators for a new year-round school garden program in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The position blends raised-bed food production, indoor hydroponic growing, and inclusive early-childhood garden education. What you will do • Plan, plant, maintain, and harvest raised-bed vegetable gardens and indoor hydroponic systems • Design and teach age-appropriate hands-on programs, primarily for children ages 3–5 • Adapt programs for bilingual and English-language learners and students with different abilities • Build strong working relationships with school staff, administrators, families, and community members • Document garden tasks and lesson plans, photograph program activity, and communicate site needs to remote managers • Transport yourself, supplies, and equipment between assigned sites using your own vehicle • Attend an initial week-long training program in Boston and occasional company-paid travel there Qualifications • At least two years leading children or youth in a group education setting • At least two years of farming or professional garden experience • Strong time management, communication, flexibility, and independent problem-solving • Able to work outdoors in all weather and move up to 50 pounds regularly • Driver's license, good driving record, and personal vehicle required • Willing to complete a CORI background check • Spanish language skills are preferred Schedule and pay This is a year-round, full-time hourly role of approximately 40 hours per week. The program opens September 1, 2026. Pay is $24–$29 per hour.
