Vineyard Team Member
Appolo Vineyards
🍇 🥕
About this job
Appolo Vineyards is hiring for the Vineyard Team Member position in Derry, NH. This hands-on role supports the operation's day-to-day production and care work. Reliable execution and early communication matter because the work directly affects plants, animals, equipment, coworkers, customers, or the surrounding property.
What you will do
• Complete assigned pruning, tying, shoot positioning, canopy care, irrigation, bird protection, sampling, and harvest work.
• Use and maintain vineyard hand tools, bins, trellis supplies, and assigned equipment safely.
• Observe vine condition, fruit maturity, pests, disease, water, and trellis problems and report them.
• Tend the organically grown vines through the work assigned for the current growth stage, keeping row work consistent and communicating plant, trellis, water, weather, pest, disease, and fruit-condition concerns early.
• Cut grass and clean the outdoor farm areas without damaging vine trunks, roots, irrigation, trellis hardware, fruit, customer spaces, or the neighboring work of the winemaking team.
• Work with winemaking staff to prepare the vineyard for each season, plan and predict harvest timing, and pick and move fruit in a way that protects lot identity and quality before winemaking begins.
How the work fits together
Vineyard work changes with the growth stage and weather. The crew reviews the block, quality standard, and timing, completes the cultural or harvest task consistently down each row, and checks tools and results before moving blocks. At harvest, careful fruit handling, accurate lots, and prompt delivery protect the year's crop. At Appolo Vineyards, the employer also makes these role-specific priorities clear: Tend the organically grown vines through the work assigned for the current growth stage, keeping row work consistent and communicating plant, trellis, water, weather, pest, disease, and fruit-condition concerns early. Cut grass and clean the outdoor farm areas without damaging vine trunks, roots, irrigation, trellis hardware, fruit, customer spaces, or the neighboring work of the winemaking team. Work with winemaking staff to prepare the vineyard for each season, plan and predict harvest timing, and pick and move fruit in a way that protects lot identity and quality before winemaking begins.
What the employer is looking for
• Readiness for a fast-paced small winery where people wear more than one hat, together with dependable attendance, a cooperative attitude, and willingness to learn the vineyard's methods.
• Ability to complete repetitive outdoor vine and grounds work, follow block and harvest instructions, handle fruit and tools carefully, and give an accurate account of prior vineyard, orchard, crop, equipment, or physical-work experience.
• Dependable attendance, direct communication, and willingness to follow the employer's safety, quality, and customer- or production-care procedures.
• Ability to complete the role's active, in-person work and to ask for instruction before using unfamiliar tools, equipment, products, or animal-handling methods.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
The employer does not publish a full-time, part-time, or seasonal classification, a standard weekly schedule, guaranteed hours, a numeric wage, overtime treatment, or benefit details for the vineyard opening. Vineyard priorities will change with vine growth, weather, fruit maturity, and harvest, but candidates should rely on the schedule Appolo actually offers rather than assume one. Confirm the expected start date, remaining 2026 term, usual workdays, harvest availability, compensation, training, equipment, and any weekend or early-morning requirements during the interview. The employer does not publish a numeric wage range on this page, so no compensation has been estimated. Applicants should confirm the final hours, overtime treatment, starting assignment, travel or reporting point, supplied equipment, and benefit eligibility directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
This is an in-person agricultural production position with a small operation. Daily priorities can change with weather, plant or animal condition, equipment availability, customer schedules, and the season. The successful person should arrive ready to work, communicate early when a task or condition is unclear, follow the employer's safety and quality procedures, and leave tools, vehicles, production areas, and job sites secure and ready for the next shift.
Applicants should expect active work that may include long periods of standing or walking, bending, lifting, repetitive hand tasks, noise, dust, mud, pollen, heat, cold, rain, or work around moving equipment. The exact physical demands differ by assignment. Candidates should discuss any accommodation needs with the employer and confirm the final schedule, overtime treatment, training period, travel expectations, and benefit eligibility before accepting an offer. Only compensation and benefits expressly published by the employer are included here; unpublished terms have not been estimated.
