Instructor of Agriculture

Missouri State University–West Plains is seeking a full-time Instructor of Agriculture for a nine-month teaching appointment beginning August 10, 2026. The instructor will help prepare students for careers in production agriculture and agribusiness through practical, current coursework grounded in real farming and ranching experience. What you will do • Teach a standard 15-credit load each fall and spring semester • Deliver courses in person and, when assigned, through online or blended formats • Develop course materials and keep curriculum aligned with changing agricultural practices and workforce needs • Assess student learning and contribute information needed for departmental and institutional reports • Advise students on coursework, degree progress, transfer options, and agriculture careers • Coordinate with adjunct instructors and dual-credit faculty to support consistent course delivery • Participate in faculty governance, campus service, recruiting, and community outreach • Build productive relationships with regional farmers, ranchers, agricultural businesses, and education partners Qualifications Applicants need a master's degree in agriculture, agribusiness, or a closely related field. The university also requires practical experience in farming, ranching, or another agricultural setting and evidence of effective teaching. Strong communication, organization, student support, and the ability to connect technical material to real production decisions are important. The posted salary range is $44,000–$46,000 annually.
