Seasonal Organic Farm Crew

Bahner Farm is hiring three seasonal crew members for its MOFGA-certified organic vegetable farm in Belmont, Maine, five miles from Belfast. The farm grows in open fields, unheated hoop houses, and heated greenhouses for its farmstand, a multi-farm CSA, wholesale customers, and spring seedling sales. What you will do The work changes with the crop calendar. Crew members help keep daily production moving and can expect a mix of: • Seeding crops and preparing greenhouse space • Transplanting and establishing field plantings • Hand weeding, cultivation, and other crop care • Harvesting mixed vegetables efficiently and to the farm's quality standards • Preparing fall and winter crops for the colder months • Packing orders and completing seasonal farm maintenance • Shifting between field, hoop-house, greenhouse, and packing work as priorities change What the farm is looking for • Farm experience or another background in sustained physical labor • Strong time management, dependable attendance, and an earnest commitment to the farm • Able to lift 50 pounds easily and repeatedly • Comfortable working efficiently for long periods while standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting • Enjoys outdoor work and brings a friendly, cooperative attitude • A driver's license and ability to drive a manual transmission are appreciated but not required Schedule This part-time position is approximately 20–30 hours per week. During May through October, the typical schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Seasonal crew positions generally run from spring through November. Compensation and perks Pay is $17–$19 per hour depending on experience. Seasonal employees receive two paid sick days, with additional time accruing over longer employment. Staff working at least six months receive one paid week off. Crew also receive free organic produce and a 30% farmstand discount.
