Farm Mechanic - Full-Time, Year-Round

Keep a working family farm moving as a year-round Mechanic at Terhune Orchards in Princeton. The role combines equipment troubleshooting, routine servicing, and repairs to farm facilities. It suits an experienced technician who can work independently while coordinating with the people using the machinery every day. What you will do • Service vehicles and farm equipment, including oil, filters, and batteries; diagnose diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and hydrostatic problems. • Repair tractors, lifts, forklifts, pickups, mowers, implements, and other farm machinery. • Help maintain buildings and facility systems, including refrigeration and electrical equipment, and document completed work. How the work fits together Terhune has operated as a family farm since 1975. Its 250 acres support a varied business that includes crops, greenhouses, a farm market, a vineyard and winery, and educational activities. The farm stays open throughout the year, so equipment reliability matters beyond a single harvest. A repair may support field production, material movement, or the buildings used by the farm team and visitors. The mechanic works alongside others to keep those operations functioning, combining scheduled maintenance with troubleshooting when equipment needs attention. The position is based at the farm at 330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton. What the employer is looking for • Bring vehicle or farm-equipment repair experience, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to use technical manuals, schematics, and computers. Automotive repair certification is required; welding and fabrication are advantages. • Have a high-school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and U.S. work authorization. Be able to handle 50-pound tools or objects and work in indoor and outdoor conditions. Schedule, conditions, and compensation Full-time, year-round employment with hourly pay based on experience, overtime opportunities, and a flexible schedule. Some overtime and one weekend day may be needed.
