Lazy 4 T Ranch is hiring two full-time ranch hands at its single Elizabethtown, Kentucky worksite. The active job order runs through March 29, 2027 and combines daily horse and cattle care with hay production, pasture upkeep, fencing, barn work, and equipment operation. Hay, equipment, and general ranch work
Ranch hands prepare soil and operate tillage, cutting, and baling equipment for forage production. Work includes loading bales, moving them into storage barns, and hauling hay to farms that purchase it. Depending on qualifications and assignment, employees may drive trucks carrying crops, supplies, tools, or workers. General duties include maintaining farm equipment, repairing barns and structures, cleaning work areas, and helping with other ranch tasks when weather or crop conditions interrupt the main work.
Experience and physical requirements
Applicants need at least two months of verifiable agricultural experience in livestock, ranching, or farm work. You must be able to handle horses and cattle safely, follow instructions, work independently or as part of a small crew, and either operate tractors and farm equipment or demonstrate a willingness to learn. The position involves lifting up to 75 pounds, prolonged standing and walking, bending, stooping, and sustained outdoor work.
Kentucky livestock and forage work continues through heat, cold, wet fields, light rain, and changing seasonal conditions. Early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays may occasionally be necessary for animal or crop needs. Any employer-paid drug, alcohol, or background testing described in the job order occurs after employment begins and is not part of the interview process.
Schedule and pay
The published schedule is 40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.ā4:00 p.m., with Saturday work from 7:00 a.m.ā12:00 p.m. when scheduled. Weather, livestock needs, forage maturity, and available work may change daily hours. Additional long days, federal holidays, or Sabbath work may be offered, but extra hours beyond the normal schedule are voluntary.
The public job page displays $13.94 per hour and separately lists a $12.70 H-2A wage figure. Applicants should confirm which wage applies to their circumstances before accepting an offer. Apply directly by emailing the ranch or calling 270-268-6631.
