Mixed Crop, Hay & Livestock Farm Hand

Paul White is hiring two seasonal farm hands at a single worksite in Springfield, Tennessee. This full-time position runs through December 15, 2026 and combines grain and forage production, hay handling, machinery operation, grain-bin work, farm maintenance, and occasional cattle care. It is a varied role on a small owner-operated farm for someone who wants practical responsibility across the crop and livestock sides of the operation. Forage and hay work • Prepare land and operate tillage and cutting equipment for forage production • Assist with mowing, cutting, handling, and storing hay as directed • Move bales into farm storage barns or load them for farms purchasing hay • Keep hay equipment and storage areas orderly and ready for safe use • Adjust daily work when weather, field conditions, or crop maturity changes the plan Row-crop responsibilities Farm hands help plant, cultivate, harvest, and store corn, wheat, soybeans, and other grain crops. Equipment work may include attaching a plow, disc, drill, or other implement to a tractor; operating the tractor in fields; and completing crop-production tasks at the correct stage of the season. Manual assignments may include husking and shelling corn, unloading crops, cleaning work areas, and supporting harvest logistics. Grain handling and equipment The role includes loading and unloading grain trucks, transferring grain through the elevator system, moving grain between bins, operating grain-cleaning machinery, and unloading grain onto conveyors. Employees clean bins and may help repair elevators, buildings, grounds, and storage systems. Other duties include lubricating and repairing farm machinery, maintaining implements, operating small and medium tractors, using guidance systems, and hauling grain to a facility when assigned. A commercial driver's license is not required for the hauling described in the order. Livestock and general maintenance When weather or harvest conditions interrupt primary crop work, employees may help feed cattle, participate in calving, tag and vaccinate animals, move livestock between pens, and assist with sorting. General farm work can include preparing barns, draining fields, preparing soil, repairing equipment, maintaining buildings, and fixing, emptying, or painting fences and barns. Experience and physical requirements Prior experience is not required, making this a suitable opportunity for a dependable beginner who can learn equipment and safety procedures. Applicants must be physically able to stand, bend, and stoop for prolonged periods and work carefully around machinery, grain systems, livestock, and elevated structures. Conditions may range from about 10 degrees to above 100 degrees, and work may continue in wet fields or light rain. Suitable clothing for outdoor conditions is essential. Schedule, pay, and employment terms The normal schedule is 40 hours per week, generally 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Field conditions and crop maturity may occasionally create ten-hour days. Additional hours, federal-holiday work, or Sabbath work may be offered but are voluntary. Pay is $15 per hour.
