Organic Vegetable & Flower Farm Crew

Canewater Farm is accepting rolling applications for its 2026 crew in Victor, Idaho, until its remaining positions are filled. This 13-acre family farm uses low-till organic practices to grow vegetables and flowers for Teton Valley and nearby Jackson Hole. Eight acres are in field production, supported by hoop houses, caterpillar tunnels, greenhouses, and a small pack-and-delivery operation serving restaurants, local groceries, online markets, and three weekly farmers markets. Crop production work • Propagate seedlings in the greenhouse and monitor young plants closely • Prepare beds and plant by hand or with paper-pot and water-wheel systems • Seed, cultivate, hoe, and hand-weed field crops while maintaining an efficient pace • Manage hoop-house crops through trellising, pruning, and organic pest and disease practices • Install, move, and remove row cover and silage tarps as the weather and crop plan require • Move hand lines, inspect drip systems, and make basic irrigation repairs • Harvest field and protected crops by hand or with appropriate mechanical assistance Post-harvest and farm operations • Wash, grade, pack, and organize vegetables and flowers for each sales channel • Maintain cooler organization and help prepare accurate deliveries • Keep records needed for the farm's organic certification • Participate in occasional farmers markets if interested and needed • Complete monthly weekend greenhouse duty, including opening and closing structures, watering seedlings, and adjusting ventilation for changing weather • Use a tractor for suitable tasks if you already have the skills; tractor experience is optional Qualifications One year of vegetable-farm experience is preferred but not required. Successful crew members bring a strong interest in organic agriculture, urgency without sacrificing quality, clear communication, initiative, attention to detail, and a positive team attitude. You must be able to accept direction, ask questions when work is unclear, lift 50 pounds, and sustain strenuous daily labor through sun, rain, hail, snow, and mud. A clean driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are required. Schedule and compensation The season ends October 31, 2026. The usual schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with spring and fall adjustments based on weather. Crew generally work 45–50 hours per week, although the farm aims to keep the week near 45 hours. One shorter weekend-duty rotation is required each month. Part-time arrangements may be possible. Pay is $16 per hour, plus available farm produce and a $0.50 bonus for every hour worked when the agreed season is completed. Five unpaid vacation days are available. Limited camper or tiny-house accommodation may be rented by two or three employees on a first-come basis.
