School Tour Guide - Farm Education
Doyle's Farm
✨
About this job
Help students discover how food grows and how farm animals are cared for as a School Tour Guide at Doyle's Farm. This seasonal position is based on the farm in Flemington and centers on leading school groups through hands-on agricultural lessons. Management provides training, so previous farm employment is helpful but not essential.
What you will do
• Guide school students around the farm and introduce the agricultural topics covered on their visit.
• Teach how plants develop from seeds and lead an apple-press demonstration.
• Support activities involving bottle-feeding young animals and help students learn about different breeds and their roles on a farm.
• Use the farm's training to present lessons in line with New Jersey curriculum guidelines.
How the work fits together
Emily and Jordan Doyle own and operate the farm. They expanded its educational work after Jordan's parents retired from leading tours, continuing a family interest in helping visitors understand agriculture. The business also produces its own eggs and meat, so lessons take place in a working farm setting. School visits connect students with plants, animals, and the practical parts of farming that may be unfamiliar to them. The guide's work is to make those experiences understandable and engaging. Tours take place at 110 Summer Road in Flemington; this role is separate from the country-store location in Neshanic Station.
What the employer is looking for
• Enjoy working with children and explaining agricultural ideas in an approachable way.
• Be willing to learn the farm's lesson content and presentation methods through management-led training.
• Teaching and childcare backgrounds are welcome. Farm experience is a plus, but it is not a prerequisite for applying.
Schedule, conditions, and compensation
Seasonal work is available within the farm's April-October operating period, with flexible working hours. Discuss your remaining-season availability, school-day schedule, wage, and any additional requirements with the hiring team. The job involves leading groups on the farm and participating in plant and animal learning activities.
How to apply
Email a resume and cover letter to contact@doylesfarm.com. Identify School Tour Guide as your role of interest and describe your experience with children, teaching, public speaking, animals, or farming. Include the days you can work and your start date. Call 908-824-2479 with questions.
